Vontu CEO Joseph Ansanelli Re-Elected to CSIA 2007 Board of Directors
Ansanelli Brings Data Security Experience to CSIA Leadership
SAN FRANCISCO — February 14, 2007 — Vontu, Inc., the leader in Data Loss Prevention solutions, today announced that Joseph Ansanelli, Vontu chairman and CEO, has been re-elected to serve on the Cyber Security Industry Alliance's 2007 Board of Directors. In this role, Mr. Ansanelli will continue to contribute his expertise on preventing the loss of sensitive data, such as employee and customer records, intellectual property, and national security data, to help CSIA advance cyber security policy in 2007. He has served on the Board since April 2006.
As the only organization dedicated to ensuring the privacy, reliability and integrity of information systems, CSIA has played a critical role in influencing several key issues, including the ratification of the Council of Europe's Convention on Cyber Crime and the creation of the Assistant Secretary for Cyber Security and Telecommunications position. In 2007, CSIA will focus on achieving federal legislation to ensure the privacy and security of personal information, strengthening the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), shaping the cyber security agenda at the Department of Homeland Security and expanding its influence in Europe.
"CSIA has an important role to play in advising the government on the information security issues that affect all of us," said Mr. Ansanelli. "I look forward to continuing to work with the security industry leaders on the CSIA board on important issues including consumer data protection."
Mr. Ansanelli is the CEO of Vontu, a San Francisco-based security software company dedicated to helping business and government proactively prevent the loss of confidential data. A well-known expert on data privacy and security, he has testified three times before legislative hearings of the House of Representatives. Mr. Ansanelli holds four patents and received a bachelors of science degree in Applied Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
"CSIA's Board of Directors plays a critical role in furthering our mission by providing the technical expertise that is needed to shape public policy and promote cyber security education and awareness," said Liz Gasster, acting executive director and general counsel of CSIA. "Since the Board has identified data privacy and security legislation as one of our top priorities for 2007, Joseph Ansanelli brings invaluable experience and expertise to our advocacy efforts."
