American National Insurance Company stops data loss with Vontu Prevent

Vontu Prevent helps insurers guard policy-holder data and comply with regulations

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — January 23, 2006 — Vontu, Inc., the leader in Data Loss Prevention solutions, today announced that American National Insurance Company (Nasdaq: ANAT) is using Vontu Prevent software to stop the loss of confidential information, including policy-holder data and other privacy related information. American National joins a growing list of property, casualty, life and health insurance companies that use Vontu to prevent data loss.

"At American National, we take a proactive approach to protecting the private information of our policy holders. The Vontu Prevent solution is a key component of our strategy," said Charles Addison, CIO of American National Insurance Company. "To meet the highest degree of compliance with both our own data security policies and state and federal regulations, we need a solution that can accurately detect confidential data, prevent it from leaving the network and redirect it, if necessary, for secure encryption. Vontu met all our requirements."

Vontu Prevent is the only solution on the market that proactively prevents data loss over email and the web. Vontu Prevent integrates with email message chain and web infrastructure technologies, blocks communications containing confidential content, and routes messages to an encryption gateway for secure delivery, enabling enforcement of enterprise-wide encryption and archiving policies. At American National, Vontu Prevent analyzes email traffic and routes messages containing confidential content to PGP Corporation's PGP UniversalTM for encryption and secure message delivery.

"American National has joined the growing list of leading insurers who are adopting Vontu Prevent to proactively stop data loss," said Joseph Ansanelli, chairman and CEO of Vontu. "These Vontu customers recognize that it is not enough to simply monitor data loss. To avoid the risk of identity theft and non-compliance, you have to stop data loss incidents before they occur."

With over $17.6 billion in assets, more than 4,000 employees and 5 million policyholders in the United States, Western Europe and Mexico, American National must prevent the loss of policy-holder data in order to demonstrate compliance with state and federal regulations such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Gramm-Leach Bliley Act (GLBA) and a growing number of privacy related regulations.
